Mary A. Cadrot
Mary Cadrot is an associate at Vanek, Vickers & Masini, P.C. She joined the firm in January 2013.Ms. Cadrot practices intellectual property law, with a focus on trademark and copyright matters. She counsels clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies with trademark clearance, prosecution and enforcement, including opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, as well as copyright protection and enforcement and domain name acquisition.
Ms. Cadrot also has extensive experience handling general corporate and contract matters, including preparation and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial and transactional agreements, and establishment and governance of business entities.
Before joining Vanek, Vickers & Masini, Ms. Cadrot was an attorney at Eugene M. Cummings, P.C. (2006-2012), where she practiced trademark law and handled business contracts and transactions; an Associate at Daar & Vanek, P.C. (1999-2006), where she handled trademark and corporate matters; Senior Legal Counsel at L'Air Liquide, S.A. (1991-1997) in Paris, France, where she brokered international transactions and commercial agreements for the world leader in the industrial gases industry; and an Associate at Chadbourne & Park, LLP (1987-1990) in New York.
Representative ExperienceMs. Cadrot has successfully prosecuted and maintained hundreds of trademark applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and foreign trademark authorities, managing trademark portfolios ranging from several to dozens of marks for clients large and small. She has also policed and successfully enforced client’s global trademark portfolios against infringement in the United States and abroad, including delivery of cease and desist letters, commencement of opposition and cancellation proceedings before the U.S. Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and settlement negotiations and agreements. Ms. Cadrot has established a worldwide network of foreign trademark agents with whom she consults on these matters.
In copyright matters, Ms. Cadrot has represented a successful publisher of inspirational books in copyright registration and contract negotiations, and she has also assisted smaller shops wishing to protect their original works of authorship and related IP from copying in the global marketplace.
Ms. Cadrot’s experience includes enforcement of more than 100 patent license agreements for the holder of U.S. patents involving DVD device technology, and enforcement of patent licenses for clients in the medical equipment and sporting equipment fields.
In the contracts and corporate arena, Ms. Cadrot established joint venture companies and subsidiaries on five continents for L’Air Liquide S.A., and worked on related agreements running the gamut from gas supply to technology transfer, materials purchase, and commercial distribution and sales, as well as agreements relating to asset acquisition and corporate governance of joint ventures.

- In additional to her professional activities, Ms. Cadrot has served on the Board of Directors at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, where she was responsible for development and capital campaign fundraising.
